Baseball Game Preview: Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles vs. West Stanly Colts

The Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the West Stanly Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Uwharrie Charter Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so West Stanly's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Uwharrie Charter Academy's win against Providence Grove wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Uwharrie Charter Academy had just enough and edged out Providence Grove 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Jake Hunter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Uwharrie Charter Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Mabe, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases marked the first that Mabe snagged this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Stanly). They were the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over Anson on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Colts with their most commanding win of the season.

The win got West Stanly back to even at 4-4. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
