Basketball Recap: Providence School Falls Despite Big Games from Ryan Gornto and William Stewart

Providence School lost against Andrew Jackson back in February of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Providence School Stallions came up short against the Andrew Jackson Tigers, falling 61-39. The match marked the Stallions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Providence School's loss came despite strong showings from William Stewart and Ryan Gornto. Stewart posted 11 points, while Gornto had eight points. Jaylen Wilkerson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Andrew Jackson had a senior duo take command as Jahari Simmons scored 14 points in addition to eight assists and three steals and Taishawn Thomas went 9 for 13 en route to 15 points. Those 15 points gave Thomas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was David Wilson, who put up five points.

Providence School has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for Andrew Jackson, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-2.

Providence School has already played their next contest, a 68-50 victory against North Florida Educational Institute on the 30th. As for Andrew Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 100-42 win against Wolfson on the 31st.
