Basketball Recap: Port St. Joe Comes Up Short

Port St. Joe played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers, falling 66-25. The Tiger Sharks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.

Despite the loss, Port St. Joe still got an impressive performance from Ellie Newman, who posted ten points. Jayla Hill was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Kaylee Goodpaster continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Bay Haven Academy, dropping a double-double on 38 points and ten steals. Another player making a difference was Paicey Millirons, who put up eight points in addition to six steals and four blocks.

This is the second loss in a row for Port St. Joe and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for North Bay Haven Academy, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-6.

Port St. Joe will venture away from home to challenge Franklin County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin County's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Port St. Joe's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they will welcome Destin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Bay Haven Academy is facing Destin at the right time seeing as Destin is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
