After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Knightdale, Southeast Raleigh was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Hillside Hornets 10-0. The win was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Nicholas Teel tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Southeast Raleigh let Kyle Watson and Grayson Dove run wild. Watson went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Dove scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Watson a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah McCullers, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Southeast Raleigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillside only posted an OBP of .125.
The victory got Southeast Raleigh back to even at 1-1. As for Hillside, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast Raleigh will head out to take on Enloe at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southeast Raleigh is facing Enloe at the right time seeing as Enloe is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hillside, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
