Baseball Recap: Los Lunas Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Rio Grande

Los Lunas faced Rio Grande in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ravens, sneaking past 4-3. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Los Lunas let Allen Galaviz and Mark Scime run wild. Galaviz scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Scime scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Scime has posted since back in May of 2024.

Los Lunas pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rio Grande, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
