Softball Recap: Springbrook Comes Up Short

Springbrook extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-4. They came up short against the Richard Montgomery Rockets, falling 22-0. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 21-0 to the Rockets when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Richard Montgomery, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 18 runs or more this season.

For Richard Montgomery's part, Maddie Little made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Little was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Richard Montgomery got a massive performance out of Emerson Koenig, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave Koenig a new career-high. Bridget Clark was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Springbrook will venture away from home to take on Whitman at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.56 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Richard Montgomery, they will head out on the road to face off against Kennedy at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
