Center Place took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Plaza Heights Christian Academy, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Plaza Heights Christian Academy beat Overland Christian 32-23.
Plaza Heights Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney Berry, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 22 rebounds. Berry hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Reece Cornine was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Center Place's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in December of 2023 after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Christian Learning Center, falling 53-19. Center Place was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Center Place struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Plaza Heights Christian Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Center Place, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Plaza Heights Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Center Place, though, as they've been averaging only 40.2 rebounds per game. Given Plaza Heights Christian Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Center Place will need to find a way to close that gap.
Plaza Heights Christian Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Center Place when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 39-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plaza Heights Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
