Recap: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Dixon Rams
The Mesa Verde Mavericks lost against the Dixon Rams back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mesa Verde was dealt a 56-19 defeat at the hands of Dixon. Mesa Verde has struggled against Dixon recently, as their match on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Mesa Verde lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matt Garcia. Despite the final result, he rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Easton Valenzuela was a one-man wrecking crew for Dixon as he threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also punched in two rushing scores. Jordan Sengmany also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.
Mesa Verde's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.1 points per game. As for Dixon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa Verde will take on Woodland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Woodland is ranked 817th, while Mesa Verde is ranked 833rd). As for Dixon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Casa Roble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Casa Roble is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
