While El Cerrito put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Vallejo. The Gauchos put the hurt on the Redhawks with a sharp 18-0 victory. Considering the Gauchos have won 17 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Courtney Miles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Arlie Tatum was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mia Martinez-Rojas, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
El Cerrito kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
El Cerrito's record now sits at 18-3. As for Vallejo, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-8-1 record.
El Cerrito wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against Hercules on the 16th. Vallejo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
