Carthage extended their postseason success on Friday against Brock. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eagles 49-21. Considering the Bulldogs have won 12 contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Carthage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but KJ Edwards led the charge by rushing for 181 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, while also picking up 49 receiving yards. Edwards' longest rush was for an incredible 83 yards. Junior Henderson also helped with two touchdowns in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carthage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards in ten consecutive matchups.
Carthage didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Trey Gant, Jace Harris, and Tylin Williams picked up one apiece. Gant is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Carthage's record is now 15-0. As for Brock, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 14-1.
Carthage will take on West Orange-Stark in a holiday battle at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. Brock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
