Basketball Recap: Robbie Chappell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lutheran South Academy

Concordia Lutheran had won three straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 5-4 to make it four. They took down the Lutheran South Academy Pioneers 51-33. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Concordia Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Robbie Chappell, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Chappell has become a key player for the Crusaders: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight boards, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ghaven Mittal, who shot 44% from the field on his way to 21 points and six rebounds.

Concordia Lutheran was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They are 5-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

As for Lutheran South Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Anderson, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points along with five boards and four steals. Anderson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jaylen Walker was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Concordia Lutheran has already played their next contest, an 82-44 defeat against Greenhill on the 4th. As for Lutheran South Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-25 victory against Rudder on the 4th.
