Softball Recap: Madonna Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Madonna had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Clay-Battelle on Wednesday. The Blue Dons blew past the Cee-Bees 19-0. The result was nothing new for the Blue Dons, who have now won four matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Kendall Ryan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Madonna got a massive performance out of Madi Owens, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Owens is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Peyton Conley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Madonna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Madonna pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clay-Battelle, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Madonna beat the Cee-Bees by a score of 15-0 later that day.
