Football Recap: Hawthorne Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Hawthorne had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Lawndale Cardinals 60-6 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 818th, while the Cardinals are ranked 350th).

Jonah Gray threw for 72 yards and one touchdown.

Julian Galvez had a dynamite game For Lawndale., throwing for 230 yards and six TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. Those 230 passing yards gave Galvez a new career-high. King Berry was in the mix as well, providing Lawndale with two scores.

Hawthorne has already played their next game, a 54-7 win against Firebaugh on the 29th. As for Lawndale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 49-7 victory against Roosevelt on the 28th.
