Basketball Recap: Mansfield Summit's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Mansfield Summit lost to Centennial back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Mansfield Summit Jaguars took down the Centennial Spartans 56-37. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Spartans are ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mansfield Summit is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Centennial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Mansfield Summit will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Joshua at 1:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Centennial, they will be taking part in a tournament against Pebble Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
