Basketball Recap: Linsly Takes a Loss

Linsly was the 67-62 winner over Wheeling Central Catholic when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Linsly Cadets opened the new year with a less-than-successful 71-61 defeat to the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cadets came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Maroon Knights are ranked 118th).

Linsly has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wheeling Central Catholic beat Linsly by a score of 71-61 on Wednesday.
