Baseball Recap: Spanish Fork Takes a Loss

If Spanish Fork was feeling good fresh off their 9-3 takedown of Riverton last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Spanish Fork fell just short of the Cedar Reds by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dons of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2016.

Matai Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Spanish Fork's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cedar, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Spanish Fork will be taking part in a tournament against Union at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Union will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Spanish Fork surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cedar, they will square off against Cedar Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
