Baseball Game Preview: Wilbur Cross Governors vs. Plainfield Panthers

The Wilbur Cross Governors will take on the Plainfield Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Wednesday, Wilbur Cross didn't have quite enough to beat Hillhouse and fell 4-3. The Governors have struggled against the Academics recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Rayvel Quezada was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhandriel Ortiz, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Plainfield fell victim to Killingly and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trailblazers. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Wilbur Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.
