Baseball Game Preview: Jeffersonville Red Devils vs. Providence Pioneers

The Jeffersonville Red Devils will take on the Providence Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jeffersonville comes in on four and Providence on three.

On Monday, Jeffersonville was able to grind out a solid victory over Madison, taking the game 5-2.

Derrick Haynes was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ryan Crawford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Providence made easy work of South Central on Monday and carried off a 15-4 win. Considering the Pioneers have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Gavin Jackson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Mauk, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Central only posted a batting average of .222.

Jeffersonville pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Providence, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Jeffersonville took their win against Providence in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
