Baseball Game Preview: Valencia Vikings vs. Canyon Cowboys

For the second straight game, Valencia will face off against Canyon. The Vikings will challenge the Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Valencia will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Canyon on Tuesday. The Vikings were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cowboys. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Grae Lewis tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Valencia let Kyle Josing and Lincoln Hunt run wild. Josing scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Hunt scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three hits gave Josing a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Yamamura, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Valencia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Valencia's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Canyon, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
