Football Recap: West Warwick Takes Down Ranked Westerly + How To Watch

West Warwick faced Westerly in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wizards came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 27-20. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wizards also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to West Warwick's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Luke Gallo, Davont Beaulieu, and Brody Meschino, who each picked up one sack apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Westerly lost, don't look at Landon Husereau. Despite the final result, he threw for 152 yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground. Daniel Cummings got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

The victory (which was West Warwick's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.7 points on average over those games. As for Westerly, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

West Warwick has already played their next contest, a 35-13 victory against Woonsocket on the 7th. As for Westerly, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-0 win against Coventry on the 7th.
