Recap: Rio Hondo Bobcats vs. Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys
The Rio Hondo Bobcats had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-35 victory over Falfurrias. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Rio Hondo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eddie Martinez, who rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Martinez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyan Lopez, who picked up 65 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Rio Hondo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Falfurrias, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Hondo will challenge San Diego at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. As for Falfurrias, they will head out on the road to face off against Santa Gertrudis Academy at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Santa Gertrudis Academy is ranked 1000th, while Falfurrias is ranked 975th).
