Football Recap: Wenatchee Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wenatchee). They took down the West Valley Rams 49-33 on Friday. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 38-24 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Wenatchee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Russell Cate led the charge by rushing for 64 yards and one score on only eight carries. Those 64 rushing yards gave Cate a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wenatchee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 71.3 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five games they've averaged 164.

Despite the defeat, West Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryker Warner rushed for 188 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per carry.

The victory got Wenatchee back to even at 3-3. As for West Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
