Soccer Game Preview: Highland Park vs. Lone Star

The Highland Park Scots will head out to face off against the Lone Star Rangers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Highland Park comes in on three and Lone Star on five.

Lone Star better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Highland Park really get things going. Highland Park's defense stepped up to hand Creekview a 5-0 shutout on Wednesday. Give the Scots' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lone Star). Everything went their way against Newman Smith on Tuesday as Lone Star made off with a 4-0 victory. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Rangers with their most commanding win of the season.

Allison Gonzales and BraqElle Raisey scored all four of Lone Star's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Highland Park's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Lone Star, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
