Basketball Recap: Lima Christian Comes Up Short

Lima Christian was the 66-61 winner over Young Women's College Prep when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lima Christian Saints took a blow against the Young Women's College Prep Griffins on Wednesday, falling 77-27. The match marked the Saints' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Lima Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alyssa Marsh almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. The game was Marsh's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Swan, who posted four points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Lima Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Lima Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Young Women's College Prep, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Lima Christian will square off against Jasper-Troupsburg at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Young Women's College Prep has already played their next match (against Rochester Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
