Basketball Recap: Alyssa Koerkenmeier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mater Dei over Nashville

Mater Dei lost against Nashville back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mater Dei Knights lost 60-35 to the Nashville Hornets.

Mater Dei's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Koerkenmeier, who went 6 of 11 en route to 11 points and seven rebounds. Koerkenmeier is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Dixie Ottenschnieder, who posted eight points.

Mater Dei's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Nashville, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-2.

Mater Dei wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-51 defeat against Breese Central on the 25th. As for Nashville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-52 loss against O'Fallon on the 25th.
