Football Recap: Anterrio Guy's Menacing Defense Leads Byers over Potts Camp

It was a proper cat-fight when Byers challenged Potts Camp on Friday. The Lions enjoyed a cozy 47-32 win over the Cardinals. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Corey Willis Jr. had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 381 yards and five TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 65 yards on only nine carries. Another player making a difference was Kesean Lafrance, who rushed for 62 yards and a pair of scores.

Byers didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Anterrio Guy. Andreco O'Neal was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Potts Camp still got an impressive performance from Jeffrey Curry, who rushed for 172 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry.

Byers has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.8 points over those games. As for Potts Camp, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Byers is set to square off against their familiar foe Falkner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Lafrance and Anthony Morgan. Meanwhile, Potts Camp will take on rival Ashland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
