Softball Recap: Utica Redskins vs. Big Walnut Golden Eagles
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Licking Valley, Utica was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Big Walnut Golden Eagles. For the Redskins, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Golden Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.
Kiersten Hull made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Hull was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Utica let Kaitlin Evans and Kenzie Fletcher run wild. Evans went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Fletcher went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Utica's record now sits at 11-9. As for Big Walnut, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
Looking ahead, Utica will head out to face off against Lakewood at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Big Walnut, they will be playing at home against New Albany at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
