Softball Game Preview: Columbia Cougars vs. Mount St. Dominic Academy Lions

Columbia is 0-7 against Mount St. Dominic Academy since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Mount St. Dominic Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbia, who comes in off a win.

Mount St. Dominic Academy will be up against a hot Columbia squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Randolph on Wednesday. Fans of the Cougars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mount St. Dominic Academy took on Cedar Grove on Wednesday. The Lions came up short against the Panthers, falling 13-5. The loss put an end to the Lions' undefeated start to the season.

Mount St. Dominic Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Columbia couldn't quite get it done against Mount St. Dominic Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
