Basketball Preview: Sierra Stallions vs. Sand Creek Scorpions
The Sierra Stallions and the Sand Creek Scorpions will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Sierra and six for the Scorpions.
On Saturday, Sierra took a serious blow against the Hornets, falling 61-22. While losing is never fun, Sierra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Hornets are ranked 129th).
The losing side was boosted by Shetara Roebuck, who scored 17 points along with three steals. That was a full 77.3% of Sierra's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Sand Creek was beaten by the Gladiators 62-22 last Friday.
Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Sand Creek, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Sierra strolled past the Scorpions in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 47-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sierra since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
