Basketball Recap: Noah Wright's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Wake over Chatham Homeschool

South Wake suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2024 on Friday. They lost 72-52 to the Chatham HomeSchool Thunder. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, with their most recent loss being a 67-52 defeat back in January.

South Wake's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Wright, who posted 15 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Cannon Cooper, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Luke Coletta continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chatham HomeSchool, going 9-for-12 to rack up 31 points along with five assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave Coletta a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Coletta, who went 6-for-7 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds.

South Wake's defeat dropped their record down to 23-9. As for Chatham HomeSchool, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 24-13.

South Wake will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Summit Christian Academy at 9:30 p.m. on March 4th. South Wake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.8 points per game this season. As for Chatham HomeSchool, they and Southeastern HomeSchool will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Southeastern HomeSchool will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Chatham HomeSchool surely won't give up without a fight.
