Baseball Recap: Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary was forced to take a big loss against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Cathedral Phantoms by a score of 6-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jackson Villagran was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Villagran was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

Villagran wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mando Romero, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple. Those three runs gave Romero a new career-high.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Cathedral, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary will welcome Brentwood School at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for the Cardinals: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while the Eagles have snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Cathedral, they will host St. Monica on Monday.
