Volleyball Recap: Charleroi Comes Up Short

Charleroi was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Charleroi started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23.

Eden Smith paced Charleroi's offense, picking up ten kills. Smith got some help from Ryleigh Taylor and her 13 assists. Katie Carpenter controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Charleroi's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Chartiers-Houston, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Charleroi will take on Burgettstown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chartiers-Houston, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Washington at 6:00 p.m.
