Basketball Game Preview: Foster Falcons vs. Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders

The Foster Falcons will head out to take on the Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Foster sitting on three straight victories and Strake Jesuit on 12.

Last Wednesday, Foster was able to grind out a solid win over Alief Hastings, taking the game 45-34. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Bears are ranked 1065th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Foster to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaron Martin, who posted 11 points. Martin is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Jalen Stephanson was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Foster smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alief Hastings only pulled down one offensive rebound.

Meanwhile, Strake Jesuit won against Alief Taylor on Wednesday with 63 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Strake Jesuit blew past Alief Hastings, posting a 63-27 victory. That looming 63-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Fighting Crusaders yet this season.

Foster's record is now 16-11. As for Strake Jesuit, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-9.

Foster ended up a good deal behind Strake Jesuit when the teams last played back in January, losing 61-46. Can Foster avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
