Basketball Recap: Aaron Mcglone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southern Maryland Christian Academy over Takoma Academy

Southern Maryland Christian Academy lost against Takoma Academy two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Takoma Academy Tigers.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron McGlone, who posted 17 points and seven boards. McGlone has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Johnie Griffin lll was another key player, going 7 for 13 on his way to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Southern Maryland Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Southern Maryland Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-8 record this season. As for Takoma Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-12.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Avalon the next time they take the court. Takoma Academy will head out to face Avalon at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Southern Maryland Christian Academy will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
