Soccer Recap: Athens Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After failing to score in their last game, Athens made sure to put some goals up on the board against Mineola on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-3 win over the Mineola Yellowjackets. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The win got Athens back to even at 4-4. As for Mineola, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.

Athens will look to defend their home pitch on Friday against Lindale at 7:00 p.m. Lindale will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Athens surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mineola, they will head out on the road to take on Cumberland Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
