Basketball Recap: McKenzie Tigers vs. Shields Panthers
Even though the McKenzie Tigers have not done well against the Shields Panthers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. McKenzie pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over the Panthers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for McKenzie.
McKenzie found their leader in underclassman Quay Jackson, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Mcmillian, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cantangelo Hicks, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Jalance Kimbrough was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
McKenzie has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Shields, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.
McKenzie will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shields, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
