Baseball Game Preview: Highland Rams vs. Madison Bobcats

Highland is a perfect 10-0 against Madison since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Highland will host Madison at 3:30 p.m. The contest will give Highland their first taste of in-conference action this season.

Highland hadn't beaten Mountain View on the road since May 19, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. Highland came out on top against Mountain View by a score of 8-5.

Kai Jones made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cannon Eddie was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Marshall Glenn, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Madison and Rigby, and Madison kept the tradition alive. Madison blew past Rigby 12-1 on Saturday.

Highland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Madison pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Highland took their victory against Madison in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 20-3. Does Highland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Madison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
