Baseball Game Preview: St. Helena Saints vs. Upper Lake Cougars

The St. Helena Saints are taking a road trip to challenge the Upper Lake Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Helena will be strutting in after a victory while Upper Lake will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, St. Helena narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Fort Bragg 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Saints.

Sam Beck was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Julian Earls also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

St. Helena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Upper Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 10-5 to Middletown.

St. Helena pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Upper Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

St. Helena took their victory against Upper Lake when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
