Basketball Recap: Marquette Catholic Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Marquette Catholic can now relate to. They fell 54-45 to the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs & Fillies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-62 back in December of 2024.

Marquette Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Cole Dobre and Aleks Pecoski. Dobre dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds, while Pecoski posted 14 points. Dobre's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. JJ Welch was another key player, putting up nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Marquette Catholic and nudges their season record down to 10-13. As for Kouts, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-4.

Marquette Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kouts, they will face off against Westville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
