VanSant tops MaxPreps California All-State Volleyball team

Krista VanSant of Redlands East Valley has won a number of awards this past season at the local, section and national level. Now she picks up another honor as the best player in the state of California.

One of the top recruits in the nation, VanSant earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors for both the state of California and the nation. VanSant was also the Southern Section MVP at the 1A level and recently picked up the award for the best player in Riverside County by the Press-Enterprise.

The Washington-bound standout was one of the top hitters in the nation this year, earning a spot on the MaxPreps Volleyball All-American Team. She also earns the honor of MaxPreps California Player of the Year for all that she has accomplished this season.

Palo Alto coach Dave Winn, meanwhile, earns the MaxPreps California Coach of the Year honor after leading the Vikings to a Division I state championship. Winn's club held off a talented Long Beach Poly team in five games to capture the title while finishing with a 41-1 overall record.
