Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Timberwolves vs. Manteca Buffaloes

Sierra hasn't had much luck against Manteca recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sierra Timberwolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Manteca Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m.

Sierra is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-36 heartbreaker at the hands of Oakdale. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 945th, while the Mustangs are ranked 415th).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Manteca beat Oakdale 58-52 on Saturday.

Manteca's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Sierra, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Sierra couldn't quite finish off Manteca when the teams last played back in January of 2024 and fell 44-41. Thankfully for Sierra, Peyton Nieman (who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
