Baseball Recap: Appleton West Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oshkosh North

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Appleton West). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Oshkosh North Spartans an 11-0 shutout on Friday. The Terrors haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Loren Georger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Appleton West is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. Georger was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron St. John, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Dominic Ruzzicone was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Appleton West lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-9. As for Oshkosh North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
