Volleyball Recap: Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Comes Up Short

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Hammond Central Wolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-8, 25-14, 25-16.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Hammond Central, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Chicago Central at 5:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Hammond Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Whiting on the 20th.
