Basketball Recap: Roane County Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Roane County won the last time they faced Sweetwater and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Roane County Yellowjackets came out on top against the Sweetwater Wildcats by a score of 57-45.

Despite the defeat, Sweetwater saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lilly Woodruff dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Woodruff has become a key player for Sweetwater: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 4-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alysa Gage, who posted eight points and three steals.

Roane County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Sweetwater, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Roane County will face off against McMinn Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sweetwater has already played their next game, a 55-51 victory against Midway on the 30th.
