Basketball Recap: Westside Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Westside entered their tilt with Fountain Inn on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They blew past the Fountain Inn Fury 69-30. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Fury are ranked 45th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tiana Marshall, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 15 points and five steals. Marshall is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of MaKyhia Paul, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards.

Westside was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Fountain Inn's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chaniya Jackson, who posted ten points and six rebounds, and Azaria Johnson, who earned six points.

Westside's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points over those games. As for Fountain Inn, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.

Coming up, Westside will welcome Southside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westside's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Southside's offense will have their work cut out for them. Fountain Inn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
