League recap: League lead hangs in balance for Governor Livingston, Cranford this week

League leaders Cranford (8-1 in Union County - Watchung play, 13-4 overall) and Governor Livingston (2-0, 7-0) will look to grab hold of first place in the standings this week. Last week, Cranford went 1-2, while Governor Livingston was 0-0

Chris Ciccarino was the best pitcher in the league this week. He accumulated zero wins and five strikeouts.

The Cougars' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 16 hits and one walks to lead the league in both categories. Cranford's pitchers have been charged with only 74 hits and have struck out 83 batters. Ryan Williamson is tops on the staff with 34 Ks.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood scored a league-best 32 runs this week, adding to its league-leading 191 runs on the season. Christian Zazzali leads the team with 26 runs scored and James D'angelo has a team-high 29 RBIs on the year.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to D'angelo, who turned in six Ks for Scotch Plains-Fanwood. He's first in the league with 44 total strikeouts.
