Softball Recap: Kaufman Victorious

Kaufman gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged the Brownsboro Bears out 5-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Abeni Nava made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bella Phiffer was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kaufman will challenge West Mesquite at 10:15 a.m. on February 13th. As for Brownsboro, they will head out to square off against Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Brownsboro is looking for their season's first win.
