Carlsbad is 9-1 against Lovington since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls will head out to take on the Lovington Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Carlsbad will be strutting in after a win while Lovington will be coming in after a defeat.

Carlsbad is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Las Cruces, who was ranked 12th at the time (Carlsbad was ranked 19th). Carlsbad slipped by Las Cruces 28-27 on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cavemen/Cavegirls as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Lovington entered their contest against Clovis on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Lovington took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clovis. The match was a 33-33 toss-up at halftime, but Lovington couldn't quite close it out.

Carlsbad's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Lovington, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-7.

Carlsbad couldn't quite finish off Lovington in their previous meeting on Tuesday and fell 39-36. Can Carlsbad avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
