Baseball Game Preview: Port Allen Pelicans vs. University Lab Cubs

Port Allen is 0-10 against University Lab since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. Port Allen will be playing in front of their home fans against University Lab at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Port Allen 3.6, University Lab 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Port Allen's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Brusly hitters got past them. Port Allen lost 10-0 to Brusly on Wednesday. The shutout was out of character for the Pelicans seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Meanwhile, University Lab entered their tilt with Port Allen on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Pelicans by a score of 10-7. University Lab's win was all the more impressive since the Pelicans were averaging only 3.26 runs allowed on the season.

University Lab got a massive performance out of Cade Conner, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave Conner a new career-high. Jake McCann was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

University Lab pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Port Allen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-5.
