The Landon Bears will challenge the School Without Walls Penguins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five losses in a row dating back to last season, Landon turned things around against Washington Latin Public Charter School on Thursday. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bears considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Jaxon Garon made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base.
In other pitching news, Noah Forrest looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on James Gibson, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Fred Malek, who scored a run and stole a base.
Landon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, School Without Walls beat DC International 7-2 on Thursday.
Patrick Morelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Ellington Hunt was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Noah Lee was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Landon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for School Without Walls, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
